The NCAA women’s wrestling season enters the post-season with six regional tournaments nationwide. The top four place winners in 10 weight classes qualify for the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships March 8-9 at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

A true fourth will be used if the fourth and fifth-place wrestlers do not meet during the tournament.

Each team can qualify up to 15 wrestlers with a maximum of two per weight class. The highest placer scores points at that national championships but bonus points and bonus points cannot be scored if two wrestlers from the same team face each other in an attempt to prevent match-fixing.

The National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships includes NCAA Division I, II, and III teams. D3 North Central won last year’s title with 15 All-Americans and three national champions.

Iowa (D1), King (D2), McKendree (D2), and North Central (D3) have separated themselves from the field and are the front runners to win this year’s national championship.

Region V appears to be the toughest qualifier with Iowa and McKendree going head-to-head. This could lead to several quality wrestlers missing the tournament since these two teams will take most of the spots.
