What else can Taina Fernandez do for an encore?

The high school freshman from Bowie, Maryland, just won her third college open of the season following a second-place finish at the Princeton Open on November 4, 2023. Her 11-0 finals loss was to Canada's Alex Town, 28, who is a 2018 U23 World champion.

Fernandez's recent run at the FSU Bobcat Open may have been her most impressive to date. She knocked off King's top-ranked 130-pounder Victoria Baez-Dilone in the finals, 10-0, and didn't surrender a point all tournament. Baez-Dilone competed for Spain at the 2023 Senior World Championships and on multiple age-level World teams.

Below are Fernandez's results from this season's college opens. Click here for full FSU Bobcat Open results.
