Penn State Wrestling True Freshman Tyler Kasak Knocks Off AA D'Emilio
Tyler Kasak registered his biggest win yet in his career with Penn State wrestling, defeating #7 Dylan D'Emilio of Ohio State on Friday night.
Penn State appears to be going forward with Tyler Kasak as its 149-pound starter and the true freshman continues to deliver for the Nittany Lions.
Kasak notched a 7-2 win Friday night against returning All-American Dylan D’Emilio of Ohio State in the Nittany Lions 28-9 dual win against the Buckeyes.
Kasak started the season at 141 pounds but moved up a weight in December to help fill the void created by returning All-American Shayne Van Ness’ season-ending injury. Since moving up to 149, Kasak is 8-0 and ranked 17th. He figures to move up a few more notches after the win over seventh-ranked D’Emilio.
After a scoreless first period, Kasak grabbed the lead with a two-point near-fall early in the second and countered a D’Emilio shot for a takedown in the third.
