Julian Ramirez Takes Out NCAA Champ David Carr In CKLV Semifinal
Cornell 165-pounder Julian Ramirez knocked off Iowa State NCAA champ David Carr in one of the biggest upsets of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
The Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational has been packed with landscape shifting upsets. One of the most recent, and perhaps the unexpected, occurred in the semifinals at 165 lbs when Cornell's two-time round-of-12 finisher Julian Ramirez took out Iowa State NCAA champion David Carr.
Ramirez's upsest over Carr was especially impressive given the result of their previous meeting during the Iowa State vs Cornell dual a year ago. In that contest, Carr took a 10-5 decision from Ramirez.
Cornell's 165-pounder moves on the the CKLV finals where he will face Oklahoma State All-American Izzak Olejnik. This will be the first meeting between the two.
