Iowa released its probable starters for Saturday night’s dual at California Baptist and the Hawkeyes are set to implement a new-look lineup for their season opener, which will be streamed live on Flowrestling

NCAA qualifier Drake Ayala is back at 125 pounds, along with high school teammate Brody Teske at 133 and NCAA finalist Real Woods at 141. After that, it’s a mix of transfer portal additions and others who filled in on spot-start duty in the past two seasons.

Transfers Victor Voinovich (149), Jared Franek (157) and Michael Caliendo (165) are set to make their debut for the Hawkeyes, while Aiden Riggins (174), Brennan Swafford (184), Zach Glazier (197) and Bradley Hill (285) occupy the upper-weight spots in the Iowa lineup.

Riggins, a 2022 Fargo Junior freestyle champion, went 6-5 across three weights last season and 1-1 in Big Ten duals as a true freshman.

Swafford compiled a 14-7 record two years ago at 174 pounds and placed sixth at the Southern Scuffle in 2022.

Glazier went 5-2 at 197 last year as a backup to Jacob Warner.

Hill, another Fargo Junior freestyle champ, compiled a 5-4 record and wrestled in one dual last season in place of Tony Cassioppi.

Five returning NCAA qualifiers are absent from the Iowa lineup.

The Hawkeyes are awaiting a Nov. 8 NCAA reinstatement policy vote to find out if and when athletes who violated NCAA sports wagering rules will be allowed to compete this season.

"As you know, we are in the middle of a situation here regarding sports wagering reinstatement," Iowa coach Tom Brands said last week during the team's media day news conference. "The Division I council, (NCAA) president (Charlie) Baker, they're working hard to get it right. That's a good thing. We know that Nov. 8 we're going to know more and we're hopeful we'll have a decision then. When you look at where we go from here now, it's about opportunities, it always is."
