This year’s Journeymen Fall Classic felt like a runaway train for Wyoming Seminary’s women’s team. The prep school out of Kingston, Pennsylvania, dominated the field with four champions and 166 points.

On two occasions, there was a teammate-versus-teammate battle in the finals. Lisa Pastoriza won by 10-0 tech over Emma Grimes for the 100-pound crown while Clare Booe outlasted Emma Bacon, 12-11, at 112.

The Booe-Bacon showdown was a thrilling back-and-forth that didn’t disappoint. Bacon hit a broomstick for four points to start the match but Booe stayed consistent before eeking out a one-point win. You can watch the match in its entirety below.

Pastoriza is 11-0 since returning to competition on August 4 following a torn ACL at the 2022 Journeymen Fall Classic on October 1. She has outscored her opponents 81-0 with six falls, three techs, and two decisions.

U17 World teamer Rianne Murphy made a statement following a 2-2 loss to Madison Nieuwenhuis at FloWrestling’s Who’s Number One on September 2. Murphy moved up from 100 to 106 pounds and pinned five straight opponents, including a fall over national #9 Harlee Hiller in the finals.

Freshman Taina Fernandez continues to impress following a dominant victory at Who’s Number One. She moved up from 127 to 135 and took the title with three falls and two techs. Her toughest match was against Isis France during pool competition.

France, a 2023 Junior National champion at 132, took a 1-0 lead but fell behind 4-1 at the break. Fernandez kept a relentless pace before securing a fall in the second period.
