Top Transfers At The NCAA Tournament This Year
Take a look at some transfer numbers and insights from the upcoming 2023 NCAA Championships.
The transfer portal has changed the landscape of college athletics, wrestling included. This year there are 18 top-10 seeds that transferred to their current institution. All-in-all there is a total of 59 national qualifiers who have transferred from one D1 to another at some point in their career.
Obviously, any wrestler that competes for Penn State, Iowa, Arizona State, Nebraska, NC State, Missouri, Iowa State, or anyone else in the top-ten will have a huge impact on the team race. Interestingly Michael Beard transferred from Penn State to Lehigh and is now seeded higher than current Penn State 197-pounder, Max Dean. At 125, #6 Stevo Poulin and #8 Anthony Noto both transferred from NC State and are seeded above #20 Jarrett Trombley.
Below is a list of all of the national qualifiers at this year's NCAA tournament in order of seed.
Now let's see which teams have the most national qualifiers.
Now, how about the teams that all those transfers came from?
