The Best Of The Summer Of '17
I know the calendar says that the summer of 2017 started on June 20 and will end in about a week, but where I come from (the Jersey Shore) summer begins Memorial Day weekend and it ends on Labor Day weekend. Taking that into account, let's take a look at the five best matches from the summer of '17, shall we?

NHSCAs

220lb Mason Parris, Indiana High Rollers vs Gavin Hoffman, Bison Legend Orange
One of the best things about summer wrestling is that you can go to an event like NHSCA Duals and lay it all out on the line. That is exactly what we got to open the summer when Ohio State commit and No. 2-ranked Gavin Hoffman bumped up to 220lb to take on top-ranked Mason Parris.

UWW Cadet World Team Trials

54kg Quarterfinal, Brody Teske, Team Valley vs Robert Howard, Bitetto Trained
How's this for a back-and-forth battle for a world team spot? Robert Howard jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Teske stormed back to go ahead 8-6. Then Howard scored twice in the last 45 seconds to move on to the semifinals.

USAW World Team Trials

74kg Final (3 of 3) Jordan Burroughs, Sunkist Kids vs Kyle Dake, TMWC
Looking back at the World Team Trials finals it is safe to say that Kyle Dake could very well be the second best 74kg wrestler in the world. He took the five-time world/Olympic champion to the brink. Here's the deciding match.

Cadet/Junior National Championships

170lbs, Final, Trent Hidlay, Pennsylvania vs Aaron Brooks, Maryland
When Travis Wittlake won the cadet world team spot in Akron, Ohio, he had to beat Aaron Brooks 4-2 and 10-0 in the finals to do it. After that, a lot of people thought that Brooks would fall back to the second tier of athletes in this country -- boy, were they wrong. Brooks silenced any doubters by teching then-No. 1-ranked Trent Hidlay in the finals of Fargo. This win started the ball rolling, and it didn't stop until Brooks -- wrestling in Athen, Greece, for an injured Wittlake -- won a world title.

UWW Senior World Championships

97kg, Kyle Snyder, USA vs Abdulrashid Sadulaev, RUS
This is the match up that every wrestling fan in the world had their fingers crossed would happen as soon as we heard that Abdulrashid Sadulaev would be making the jump from 86kg to 97kg, and it did not disappoint.
