What better way to end Beat the Streets 2017 in Times Square with an Olympic champion against a world silver medalist? Next week's main event will close out the evening with Jordan Burroughs against Sohsuke Takatani of Japan. The rest of the match order can be found here.

Burroughs has wrestled Takatani twice before, both times at World Cups. Those matches were in February of 2013 and May of 2012, so we'll be seeing two drastically different wrestlers.

2013 World Cup Match


Takatani is a left leg lead who likes to use a right hand underhook and lefty chin control. He frequently tries to use that to work snapdown go-behinds and keep guys like Burroughs from having the space to drive through leg attacks.

When Takatani does shoot, he dives low to try and snag both ankles. If that doesn't work, he squares up, locks his hands around the thighs and comes up to his feet to at least try and drive his opponent out of bounds.

2012 World Cup Match


The Japanese star does not have much in the way of par terre or re-attack/counters, so he will have to win the takedown battle against Burroughs, which bodes very well for the American.

This will be the first action for Takatani since the Yarygin in January, while Burroughs of course wrestled in Vegas at the U.S. Open. Time between competition doesn't seem to favor either wrestler in that regard.

Burroughs is a superior athlete, in terms of speed, strength and agility. He has superior leg attacks and can get turns from par terre with his leglace. Takatani can scramble, but not to a degree that would frustrate Burroughs. While this may not be a quick 10-0 tech for the four-time world and Olympic champ, Burroughs should cruise to a victory to close out the night in Times Square.
