As reported on IAWrestle, former Iowa Hawkeye national champion Derek St. John is returning to his home state to join the staff of new Iowa State Cyclone head coach Kevin Dresser.

St. John worked the previous two seasons for Dresser at Virginia Tech, first as the Director of Operations and then as a volunteer assistant coach. St. John also spent a year before that as a volunteer assistant at North Dakota State. St. John's official role at Iowa State has not been revealed.

Before coaching, St. John was a four time All-American at Iowa, earning fourth, second, first and fifth place honors in consecutive years from 2011-14.

At Virginia Tech, St. John helped Dresser lead the Hokies to consecutive top ten finishes at the NCAA tournament. The two coaches will now look to recreate those results in Ames.
