We're about to rock & roll at the Kovalchick Complex for the 8th FloNationals. But one last thing before we do - here are some wrestlers you may not have heard of that we think will become household names before the weekend is through.

7. Victor Voinovich, Ohio - 126

Every year there are a couple 8th graders to place at FloNationals. And they're studs: Zahid Valencia, Spencer Lee, Luke Pletcher, Fox Baldwin, Sammy Sasso, Julian Ramirez. Enter Voinovich who already has a USAWrestling Preseason Nationals title under his belt. He'll have a tough (projected) quarter with Cole Manley, but of the nineteen 8th graders registered, Voinovich is the one I give the best chance to place.

6. Corey Gamet, Michigan - 113

Gamet has been a bit up and down over the past year - he went just 2-5 at Cadet Duals at 113, then won Fargo at 106, and then took two unranked losses. But he's the 3-seed and now at what seems to be a comfortable weight for him coming off an undefeated season. We might see him wrestle on the big stage on Saturday night.

5. Carter Starocci, Pennsylvania - 152

As the state runner-up to #1-Cam Coy in PA's big school division, Starocci turned some heads in Hershey. But that was his first true breakout performance and he'll have a tough row to hoe at a deep weight where he's the 7 seed. A good showing here though, and his stock goes way up.

4. Sam Latona, Alabama - 106

I'm really high on Latona, who lost in a wild (and somewhat controversial) Fargo final to Cullan Schriever. Even at 106, he's been a bit undersized. But he's finally filled out and is coming off an NHSCA title. 106 is deep, with returning finalist Kamali (Michigan) and state champs from PA, NY, and OH. So if Latona makes a run, he'll have earned it.

3. Ryan Vulakh, PennsyIvania - 138

After placings at PA states as a freshman, Fargo, and Super 32, Vulakh was ranked. But he's largely gone under the radar due to being so young and, after transferring, being ruled ineligible and having to sit out his Sophomore season. He was in action at NHSCA and reached the finals. He comes in as the 3 seed here and after getting his competition legs back under him, he could be a finalist threat.

2. Mason Parris, Indiana - 220lbs

How can a Top 5 guy be under-the-radar? Mason Parris owns a win over Cohlton Shultz (at NHSCA Duals) and has gone 3-1-1 in his single-class state tournament. But he's a part-time wrestler as a legitimate DI football candidate, and thus, hasn't been under the national spotlight much. That will change this weekend. Underground, there are dozens of college coaches inquiring about him. At the present time, Parris hasn't decided if he'll go the football route in college or if he'll wrestle. A big performance in a weight that includes the PA state champ and four returning FloNationals placers could push his offers way, way up.

1. Tyler Barnes, New York - 170lbs

For the same reason Barnes isn't ranked all that high (17th), the nation is less aware of just how damn good this kid is - he just hasn't hit top names. He was a double Fargo finalist last year losing in the finals of both styles to #2 Travis Wittlake. In Freestyle he teched his way to the finals. In Greco, all matches except one before the finals were a pin or tech. Last week en route to an NHSCA Junior title, he bonused in five of seven matches including a major in the finals. The kid's a buzzsaw and entertaining. I look for this to be his true breakout moment.
