About an hour after No. 3 Justin Mejia announced he was decommitting from Iowa, No. 2 Jason Renteria announced he would do the same.

Renteria, a three-time Illinois state finalist and one-time state champion, committed to the Hawkeyes early in his high school career, but now it seems he has changed his mind.

He tweeted this statement:

I've thought from Day 1 Iowa was a good fit for me. However, things weren't able to work out. I appreciate the opportunities they gave to me

Renteria is currently the No. 33-ranked wrestler in the class of 2017 and No. 2 at 132. He projects as a 133-pounder.
