John Smith: 2x Olympic Champion Shows How to Finish from Anywhere
Where to start with John Smith? Sure I could talk about his two NCAA Championships, his four World Championships, his two Olympic Championships.  I could talk about his incredible legacy as a coach, the NCAA champions he's produced, the Olympian's he's fostered to greatness.  I just may be bold enough to say he's the greatest US wrestler of all time -maybe the greatest wrestler ever.

When it comes to John Smith, I could bring up a lot of things, but instead of trying to compete with wikipedia, I'll just use the rest of this write up to focus on his technique. To the point: this technique is incredible, ahead-of-the game, impactful, etc.

For years and years John Smith has shown the fundamentals to his low single.  With these technique videos, he gives us more.  He gives us the low single and then shows a variety of finishes that he has just recently developed to counteract the newest development in folkstyle wrestling: scrambling.

We got a lot of amazing stuff from the Wizard, but here we have five videos, in particular, where he shows how to finish the low single as the opponent begins to counter with some high-level funk and tactical scrambling.  I've also included an introduction video where John Smith discusses exactly how to hit the move (and how he developed it) as well as a wrap-up on the series where he emphasizes perfecting all of the little details that make each finish effective.

The Greatest Leg Attacker of All Time Shows How to Finish from Anywhere

Core Technique Behind the Low Single
John Smith shows how to get technically sound at hitting the low single -the move he developed and perfected.  He shows that when hitting the move, you should attack from distance.  He emphasizes changing levels before penetrating.  When hitting the move, make sure to reach and catch the heel. Place your head to the inside of his knee.  DO NOT AIM TO SHOOT IN BETWEEN HIS LEGS.  Make sure to keep your post hand up, swisher your feet to the opposite side of your attack hand before finishing.

The Wizard's Low Single to Variation Finish and Turk
Smith shows that if you shoot through your opponent's legs -something that is not intended but happens anyways- you use the arm opposite your attack arm/hand to grab his far leg.  Scoop the leg and drive him to his hip, then turk him at the heel.  Keep an eye on how he finishes from there.  Great stuff.

Finishing the Low Single Through the Hole
If you shoot through his legs, as opposed to at the knee like you're supposed to, you can still finish by swishering your feet away from your opponent so that he can't grab them and try to hit funk.  Next, you need to drive backwards, replace your post hands with your attack hand and then build up before attacking the angle to finish.

Finishing the Low Single When Opponent Locks in the Crotch
If your opponent locks in the crotch after you attack, put him on his head by pushing back into him.  Stay in the pocket there, and then use your feet to change hips.  From there, make sure to slide his lock out.  Use your foot and leg to lock his arm in there, but don't let go of the leg you attacked until you are ready to score.  This is actually a great spot to cradle from.

Finishing the Low Single When Opponent Goes to Crotch Lift
Smith shows exactly what to do when your opponent gets to the crotch lift and starts to try to hit his move immediately.  As soon as you feel this, you have to "board out" on the mat to counter his move.  Once your opponent adjusts to try and score, you can pull your outside knee up and then build back to the same previously shown finishes.

Finishing the Low Single When Opponent "Makes His Leg Heavy"
If your opponent gets to the crotch and then gets really heavy with his leg, don't worry about fighting your head up.  Worry about getting your hip down so that you can swisher your legs the opposite direction and switch your hips.  He points out that you should always be in a tight position ready to explode to the finish.

Pay Attention to All Details on All Finshes
John Smith wraps up his series by discussing what's going on with the low single in the sport TODAY.  He mentions that the things he showed can be applied to the swing single as well as the low single.  He emphasizes all the little details, and he recommends that you do the same if you want this series to be of the most utility possible.
