When's The Last Time Pound-For-Pound Guys Lost?
We've all taken losses, some of us more than others. But even the best among us lose, they're just few and far between. For the top 14 guys in the country in our pound-for-pound rankings, we tried to figure out exactly when those last losses occurred.

A few caveats. We didn't include Greco losses. Yes, we are aware Greco exists, but the criteria we settled on was folkstyle and freestyle only. The second caveat is that the loss must also be against a domestic high school opponent, which for the sake of this argument means being Fargo eligible. That means losses to college guys or foreign competition are thrown out as well.

We arranged the losses in chronological order, with the most recent loss at the bottom.

Name Opponent Event Weight Style Date
Gable Steveson Justin Cumberbatch MN AAA Finals 195 Folkstyle Feb. 2014
Mason Parris Cohlton Schultz NWCA Duals 220 Folkstyle Apr. 2016
Travis Wittlake Mikey Labriola Who's #1
170 Folkstyle Oct. 2016
Jacori Teemer Steven Isaac Grapple at the Garden 145 Folkstyle Nov. 2016
Joey Silva Spencer Lee Ironman finals 126 Folkstyle Dec. 2016
Cohlton Schultz Chase Singletary Ironman finals 220 Folkstyle Dec. 2016
Will Lewan Austin O'Connor Cheeshead finals 145 Folkstyle Jan. 2017
Gavin Hoffman Jake Woodley Journeymen World Classic 195 Freestyle Apr. 2017
Aaron Brooks Travis Wittlake Akron finals 76kg Freestyle June 2017
David Carr Brady Berge JR Trials semis 66kg Freestyle June 2017
Brayton Lee Kaden Gfeller Fargo quarters 145 Freestyle July 2017
Sammy Sasso Brayton Lee Fargo consi semis 145 Freestyle July 2017
Michael Beard Gavin Hoffman Who's #1 195 Folkstyle Oct. 2017
You might be wondering where Seth Nevills is. After all, he is the main picture on this article. Well, he has never lost in high school. That's right, his last loss was in eighth grade.

Nevills is a great example of what makes this list so hard. The less you compete, the fewer opportunities you have to lose. But we cannot hold his schedule against him, it is the job of his opponents to beat him, not his job to wrestle in every tournament under the sun until he loses.

Gable Steveson has also never suffered a folkstyle or freestyle loss in high school. Minnesota is one of several states that allows middle schoolers to wrestle, and back in 2014 an eighth grade Steveson lost 6-1 to Justin Cumberbatch in the large school finals. If you include Greco, his last loss was to Trent Hillger of Michigan at the 2015 Junior Duals by a score of 9-5.

null

There are two guys on the list who suffered their most recent losses at Who's Number One. Travis Wittlake's came in last year's against Mikey Labriola in overtime, and Michael Beard's was at this year's in a barnburner to Gavin Hoffman.

Mason Parris traded losses with Cohlton Schultz in the Spring of 2016, with Schultz getting the first win by an 8-4 margin at the NWCA Scholastic duals in April.

Below are the last losses for Joey Silva and Cohlton Schultz.

Spencer Lee over Joey Silva

Chase Singletary over Cohlton Schultz
