The class of 2017 is shaping up to be a good one for Iowa State. Having already received an agreement from Austin Gomez, the Cyclones added another recruit with No. 10 Marcus Coleman verbally committing to Coach Kevin Jackson and the Cyclones.
Coleman is the 10th-ranked 170-pounder in the country and checks in as the No. 62 recruit on the Senior Big Board. Coleman projects as a 174 at the next level. The Ames High School product is a two-time Iowa state champion. He'll slot in nicely for Leland Weatherspoon, who is entering his senior campaign for Iowa State. If he grows some more, he could redshirt and take the reigns after Pat Downey graduates in two years. Coleman told FloWrestling he chose Iowa State over Nebraska, Missouri and Northern Iowa.
Coleman announced his decision on twitter this evening:
"I chose Iowa State because the college has everything that I could ask for," Coleman said to FloWrestling. "They have a great team bond, amazing wrestlers in the room and Kevin Jackson is an Olympic and world champion. I have been a Cyclone fan for as long as I can remember!"
Coleman punches his ticket to the Fargo final with this win. Coleman will be gunning for a Fargo title next week!
