UWW Updates Men's Freestyle Rankings
United World Wrestling recently updated their men’s Freestyle wrestling rankings. All told, only 6 American wrestlers are currently ranked.
At 57KG Tony Ramos fell from 13th to 15th. The United States has no ranked wrestlers at 61KG. At 65, Brent Metcalf is among the highest ranked Americans sitting at 5th. Former NCAA Finalist from Cal-Poly Boris Novachkov is ranked 13th. He currently wrestles for Bulgaria.
Dustin Schlatter is the lone American ranked at 70KG. Nick Marable and James Green are on the outside looking in at this point. Former Clarion All American Bekzod Abdurakhmanov sits at 5th after his Asian Championship. Bekzod competes for Uzbekistan.
At 74KG, we find Jordan Burroughs back at the top spot that was previously occupied by Denis Tsargush. World Champion Tsargush falls to 3rd behind Burroughs and Gedeuv after falling short at Russian Nationals. Gedeuv won the Europeans and went from unranked to 2nd in the World.
86KG has no ranked Americans. No Ruth, Foster or Herbert. The same is true for 97KG where we have no Kyle Snyder, Varner or Bergman inside the top 20. Of note, the Cuban (Cortina-Lacerra) that Snyder beat at Beat The Streets sits at 6th in the World.
Falling out of the rankings for USA were Jordan Oliver, Nick Marable, Clayton Foster and Jake Varner.
