Gabe Dean On Losses At Cliff Keen Las Vegas

Gabe Dean had a fantastic freshman campaign for Cornell, going 40-3 and finishing third in his first appearance at the NCAA Championships. The big feat that put Dean on the map was an upset victory over then two-time defending NCAA Champion, Ed Ruth of Penn State, at the Southern Scuffle.

Later that year Gabe Dean lost to Ed Ruth in the NCAA semifinals in a very close match.

The next year Gabe Dean would be dubbed, "The Man", and that became a problem.

The pressure of the hype got to him and all of the sudden Dean was wrestling not to lose. Entering the Cliff Keen Las Vegas as a sophomore, Gabe Dean was the top seed, undefeated, and considered a lock to win an NCAA title. There was already talk about him being a three-time undefeated NCAA Champion. People were putting a lot of expectations on Gabe Dean.

During the filming of Cornell: Garrett and Dean, Gabe opened up about those losses and how he got caught up in the hype, how his mentality was wrong and the things that he promises himself he will do moving forward.

If you can't make it out there, you can follow along for live results and brackets on FloArena. Every match will be streamed live and all matches will be available to view on demand.
