Since the last poll, there have been a lot of shake-ups in the individual and team rankings. The NWCA National Duals was an amazing event and pieced together a clearer picture of what to expect in March. On top of National Duals, the DIII wrestling community has been busy since the calendar turned to 2023. There were a lot of results to digest and all these recent results have created some chaos at certain weights. Perfect example, 174 #1 ranked wrestler Mike Ross lost but still remains at the top spot thanks to his solid win over #2 Zane Mulder.

Wartburg still remains #1 in the tournament poll with 9 individuals ranked nationally but slide down to #3 in the dual meet poll. Augsburg takes over the #1 dual spot after their dominating performance at National Duals. These 2 DIII Giants will wrestle in the annual “Battle of the Burgs” on January 26th. This match will have major implications and has quite the history, Wartburg is currently on a five match win streak in the event. The Auggies will have plenty of motivation heading into this dual. Johnson & Wales University has made their presence known and currently sit at #2 in the tournament and dual poll. They have two #1 ranked wrestlers, 125 Joziah Fry and 174 Mike Ross, and Hayden Brown jumps up to #2 at 149. Brown spent the first half of the year at 157 and had an impressive debut at 149. The Wildcats are serious title contenders in March and will look to bring another team trophy back to Providence, Rhode Island.

David Hollingsworth - Wartburg reclaims the #1 spot after a huge win over Nolan Hertel - UW-La Crosse. Previous #1 Tyler Shilson lost to Hertel and Zeke Smith which drops him to #4 at 157. It is worth mentioning that 2022 All-American Ryan Luth - W&L is back in the fold, he enters the rankings at #5. Jarritt Shinhoster was the runner-up at Midlands and defeated Shane Liegel in their last meeting, he reclaims the #1 spot at 184. A new contender emerged at 184, 2022 174 NCAA Champion Cornell Beachem made his season debut after a stellar season on the gridiron. The Lackman brothers continue to be a cool story to follow, Nate and Matt hold down the #1 and #2 spots at 165. The University of Dubuque bolstered their line-up with the addition of the Koontz brothers, Brady and Dylan. The ex-Buckeyes will look to make some noise in the always tough lower midwest regional to close out their college careers.
