After winning an NCAA title in 2021 and being a large contributor to the reinstatement of the Stanford wrestling program, Shane Griffith found himself on the losing end of a rivalry with Evan Wick. However, despite taking three defeats at the hands of Wick heading into the NCAA tournament last season, Griffith overcame those setbacks and defeated Wick to get back to the NCAA finals. Griffith will be looking to get himself back to the top of the podium in what will be one of the deepest weight classes in the entire country once again. Legend Lamer has qualified for the NCAA Championships the last two seasons at 149 pounds and will now be making the jump up two weight classes up to 165 for Cal Poly. Matthew Olguin had a solid season for Oregon State last season that ended with a 2-2 finish at the NCAA Championships at 165 pounds.
