Returning All-American Killian Cardinale made his return at the Midlands and made the semifinals before forfeiting out of the tournament. Cardinale is 6-0 on the year so far but has not yet faced the top competition at 125 pounds this season. Stevo Poulin jumped to #3 in the Big 12 at 125 pounds as he has had a strong 14-3 season so far, and the rest of the top six have taken each other out. After a third-place finish at the Solider Salute, Jore Volk picked up a big 11-1 major decision over Noah Surtin last weekend to move ahead of Surtin up to the #4 ranking at 125 pounds. Surtin defeated Trevor Mastrogiovanni at the Southern Scuffle on his way to a runner-up finish to move up to #5 in the Big 12. Kysen Terukina will be missing the rest of the season due to injury, so Caleb Fuessley is now stepping in for Iowa State at 125 pounds.
