After a lineup battle that lasted most of the season with Owen Trephan, Tyrie Houghton finished as the ACC runner-up last season before finishing 1-2 at the NCAA tournament. Houghton had wins over Jonah Niesenbaum and Brandon Whitman last season and got the most recent win by major decision over Hunter Catka to take the #1 ranking in the ACC at 285 pounds. Catka was the ACC runner-up in 2021 as a true freshman before redshirting last season when he split matches with Houghton. Whitman split matches with Niesenbaum last season but got the most recent win by fall in overtime over Niesenbaum at the ACC tournament to claim the #3 ranking in the ACC.
