2022 World Championship Rankings - Men's Freestyle

97 - Kyle Snyder

Kyle Snyder made his 8th straight world/Olympic team and is looking to win his 3rd world title this September in Serbia. With Russia currently banned from the world championships, Snyder will be the favorite to win 97kg. However, there are a few notable challengers in the field that could keep Snyder from bringing home gold. First, there’s last year’s Olympic bronze medalist - Cuba’s Reineris Salas. He hasn’t competed since the Olympics but has wrestled Snyder close in the past. If Salas is in Serbia, expect him to contend for a medal and challenge every wrestler in the field.

Mohammadian Mohammadian will be a serious contender in Serbia. Mohammadian is best known for pinning Snyder at the Matteo Pellicone in January of 2020 before he failed to place at the Olympics in Tokyo. Mohammadian earned his world team spot by defeating 2021 world bronze medalist Mojtaba Goleij in two-straight matches.

Another contender who has emerged over the past few months is Batyrbek Tsakulov - a Russian transfer now representing Slovakia. Tsakuklov won two rankings series events in the past month highlighted by wins over world medalist Odikadze and #9 Baranowski.
