2021-22 NCAA DI Rankings

Eric Bar-Nothing-But-Nett

Several weights went through some major upheaval after a week of excellent dual meets, and 125 was definitely one of them.

The most destructive spanner thrown into the delicate machinery that is the 125-pound rankings was from Wisconsin's Eric Barnett, who defeated Pat McKee of Minnesota. McKee's three wins this season over Drake Ayala ensured that he'd stay ahead of the young, surging Hawkeye, who recently defeated Micahel DeAugustino.

DeAuggy Doggie returned to the mat in the second semester so he has a skimpier resume than Barnett, McKee, or Ayala, despite wins over both McKee and Barnett last week. Therefore, he is behind Ayala in a very tightly bunched quartet. Any match between those four is essentially a pick 'em, regardless of their rankings.

Pat Glory, though, put some distance between himself and the next guy on the ladder with a solid victory over Brandon Courtney, in one of the highest-ranked bouts of the weekend.

Elsewhere, Joe Manchio defeated Jarte Lane to move up a few spots, and Dylan Shawver pulled himself and the undefeated Kysen Terukina out of the honorable mentions with a victory over Justin Cardani.

Ryan Miller has a win over Shawver this season, and the Shawver-to-Miller 'chunk' of the rankings is very similar to the Barnett to DeAugustino chunk; razor-thin margins between them so your mileage may vary.

There was more chaos emanating from the Virginia Duals, as Ferri beat Gutierrez, Prata beat Ferri, McCormick beat Prata, and Gutierrez beat McCormick. We figured it the best we could.

Finally, Drew Hildebrandt is back in the mix, and with a win over Shawver, his resume and 2021 NCAA placement now compare more favorably to Killian Cardinale's best win over Gutierrez and a lower placement at the 2021 NCAAs. Thus, Cardinale has been moved below Hildebrandt.
