2020-21 NCAA Division II Rankings

NCAA DII 197-Pound Rankings

Ryan Vasbinder was one of the most dominant wrestlers in Division II last season, going 29-1 with bonus point galore. He will have his work cut out for him as this weight is full of challengers looking to take him down. Nicholas Mason of Tiffin is a former returning national champion, taking that crown in 2019. Mason did take a few losses last season, but he will be looking to finish his career on top. Dalton Abney put together a great freshman campaign, going 13-2 with both of those losses being at the hand of Vasbinder. Noah Ryan of St. Cloud is coming in at #4. He went 18-4 last season, and he would have been right in the thick of things, challenging for an All-American spot. Logan Kemp of West Liberty is back this season, after suffering a season-ending injury early on. He did have an early-season victory over Mason of Tiffin. The last guy that we will talk about is Khalil Gipson of Adams St. Gipson is coming off of a Redshirt last season. He was an All-American in 2019 and he should be making an instant impact in the 197lb landscape.

Freshmen to Watch

Tereus Henry - Fort Hays St - 17-3 as a redshirt last season, won two opens last season.
