2020-21 NCAA Division II Rankings

NCAA DII 157-Pound Rankings

Leading the way at 157 is senior, Jake Barzowski of St. Cloud St. Barzowski was the #2 seed going into nationals. Barzowski did square off last year with both Ty Lucas of Central Oklahoma and Braydon Huber of Mary last season, winning close matches with both. Barzowski and Lucas was a 3-1 sudden victory match and he also beat Huber in the Super Region finals, close as well.

We have a pair of sophomores coming in at five and six after strong freshman campaigns. Both Dawson Combest of Indianapolis and Chase Luensman of Upper Iowa were top eight seeds going into nationals last season. Luensman is making the jump up from 149. Coming in at six is Nate Smalling of McKendree, who was an All-American in 2019. Maxamillian Schneider is an interesting name to follow this season. Schneider was 16-0 going into Super Regionals last season, up big in the semifinals, when he was pinned by Wasser of Nebraska-Kearney. Schneider did default out of the tournament, not qualifying. Schneider was one of the most dominant wrestlers in Division II last season and will be one to keep an eye on.

Freshmen to Watch

KJ Kearns - Colorado School of Mines - 3x Colorado placer, went 11-2 as a redshirt last season.
