2021-22 Michigan High School Rankings

2021-22 Michigan High School Rankings: 189

Cotton pulled off last season’s top shocker by edging Detroit Catholic Central's Manny Rojas, 6-5, during opening week.  However, Rojas, now ranked No. 6 in the nation pound-for-pound, avenged the loss in the state championship match. It was Cotton's only loss of the season as he finished 28-1. He was also seventh in the state as a freshman and owns a 70-11 high school record. With Rojas likely moving back down to 171, Cotton becomes the Division 1 state-title favorite at 189. He is ranked No. 13 nationally at 182 and No. 79 on the Class of 2023 Big Board.

Cotton scored some impressive wins prior to last season, including over two-time Delaware state champion Danny Stradley at Tryant Duals. At Yeti Duals, he knocked off Adam Sylvester, who was an undefeated Minnesota state champion this season. At Grappler Fall Classic, Cotton bested North Carolina state champion Zane Van Vleet.
