2021 world silver medalist Magomed Kurbanov won the Ivan Poddubny tournament in Russia after defeating #16 Tamerlan Tapsiev, #15 Azamat Tuskaev, and #9 Magomed Sharipov. Though he lost to Kurbanov, Sharipov was the surprise of the tournament after defeating #10 Guram Chertkoev and #18 Tazhudin Mukhtarov. Zakuev and Chertkoev took losses but came back to take bronze.

While he isn’t currently in the top 20, Nate Jackson won the world team trials and will take on J’den Cox at Final X on June 3.
