Ravi Kumar made his way back down to 57kg and won the Asian Championships by defeating #11 Kalzhan in the finals, 12-2. Though he suffered defeat to Kumar, Kalzhan had a breakout tournament at Asians beating #13 Abdullaev and #12 Smanbekov on his way to earning the silver medal. The aforementioned Smabekov earned the bronze medal with a 13-7 win over Abdullaev.

Thomas Gilman holds at the #2 spot after dominating at the Pan-Am Championships where he recorded three wins - 2 by pin and 1 tech fall.
