2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle

97 Abdulrashid Sadulaev

Abdulrashid Sadulaev stays atop his throne at 97kg. He won gold at Russian Nationals by winning four matches by a combined score of 43-4. In the finals, Sadulaev defeated newcomer to the rankings, #14 Aslanbek Sotiev, 8-2. Sotiev earned his spot in the rankings and the finals by defeating #16 Shamil Musaev and #15 Aslanbek Gazzaev. Gazzaev is also new to the rankings because of his bronze medal win over Musaev. Shamil Musaev holds his spot by his win over #18 Magomedkhan Magomedov (previously ranked #11).

The other bronze medalist, Erik Dzhioev, did not have any ranked opponents on his side of the bracket. Because of that, he stays out of the rankings but should be a name to watch for in the future.

#4 Kyle Snyder did take a “loss” by injury default at Senior Nationals. However, injury defaults do not count toward these rankings so he holds his spot.

It’s also worth noting, #3 Mohammad Mohammadian defeated #19 Ali Shabani in a close 3-3 bout during an Iranian League match.
