2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle
65 Gadzhimurad Rashidov
Gadzhimurad Rashidov, the defending world champion, remains #1 at 65kg by defeating #7 Akhmed Chakaev in the Russian Nationals finals, 2-0. Chakaev moved up a few spots by defeating #10 Murshid Mutalimov and #8 Zagir Shakhiev before falling to Rashidov.
#8 Zagir Shakhiev enters the rankings after upsetting World and Olympic Champion Soslan Ramonov in a controlling 8-0 win. Shakhiev would go on to take bronze by defeating #19 Artur Badtiev. Badtiev enters the rankings after his win over #10 Mutalimov. It might seem odd keeping Badtiev 9 spots below Mutalimov, however Badtiev’s win over Mutalimov is his only ranked win, while Mutalimov has multiple.
#20 Amir Yazdani also enters the rankings at 65kg after defeating Meysam Nasiri (previously ranked #16). Iran held a mini-tournament to determine the spot for 65 and Yazdani came out on top and will represent Iran at the World Championships in December.
More movement at 65kg from Russian Nationals came from both Kurban Shiraev (previously ranked #4) and Magomdedrasul Idrisov (previously ranked #15) moving up to 70kg. Because of their change in weight, they have both been removed.
