2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle

65 Gadzhimurad Rashidov

Vladimer Khinchegashvili’s 4-4 win over Yianni causes a shake-up at the bottom of the 65kg rankings. We have a rare 4 man “ranker’s delight” here between Khinchegashvili, Yianni, Musukaev, and Rahimzade. Because these wrestler’s account for the only movement in the weight, it’s worth explaining. Rahimzade took bronze at the 2020 European Championships. There, he lost to Skriabin in the semi-finals but defeated both Musukaev and Khinchegashvili. However, Yianni previously defeated both Musukaev and Rahimzade at the Yasar Dogu back in July 2019.

In rankings, recency of wins should be the deciding criteria in this type of situation. Therefore, Rahimzade goes ahead of Musukaev and Khinchegashvili because of his wins over them at Euros in February. Musukaev defeated Khinchegashvili at 2019 Worlds keeping him in his spot. And obviously, Khinchegashvili moves ahead of Yianni because of his win at Beat the Streets.

It’s also worth mentioning that Musukaev won Hungarian Nationals up at 70kg this month. He went 4-0 with four, 10-0 tech falls.
