2021-2022 International Rankings - Men's Freestyle

125 Gable Steveson

With Gable Steveson absent at the World Championships, Iran’s Amir Zare won the world title at 125kg by defeating both #3 Taha Akgul in the semis and #4 Geno Petriashvili in the finals. Although, Petriashvilii has placed ahead of Akgul at both the Olympics and World Championships, Akgul holds the last head-to-head win over Petriashvili from the 2021 European Championships in April. That win keeps Akgul one spot of Petriashvili in the rankings.

Nick Gwiazdowski placed 5th after losing to Zare in the quarter-finals and Akgul in the bronze meal match. However, Gwiazdowski moves up significantly in the rankings after defeating #7 Dzianis Khramiankou, 6-1.

Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur followed up his 5th place performance at the Olympics by winning bronze in Oslo. At the world championships, Munkhtur lost to Petriashvili but defeated both Johannes Ludescher (AUT) and #20 Oleg Boltin.
