2023 International Wrestling Rankings - Men's Freestyle

70 Israil Kasumov

Russia’s Kurban Shiraev won the CIS Games over Tajikistan’s Mustafo Akhmedov in the gold medal match. Shiraev is one of Russia’s best young talents and should challenge to be the 70kg representative at the World Championships. Shiraev won the Yarygin in May and defeated 2019 World Champion David Baev in the process.

Ilyas Bekbulatov, who was formerly ranked #2 in the world, recently had surgery and will not be competing. Because of that, Bekbulatov has been removed from the rankings and won’t be inserted until he returns.

New to the rankings at 70kg is Iran’s Erfan Elahi and Poland's Magomedmurad Gadzhiev. Elahi had a great few weeks after winning the junior world championships over #17 Dzabrayli Gadzhiev and defeating #18 Amir Maghsoudi. Elahi’s win over Maghsoudi also won Elahi the 70kg spot for the world championships in October. Gadzhiev is moving up to 70kg after failing to medal at the Olympics at 65kg.
