California High School Rankings: Pound For Pound

Figueroa competed at the La Costa Canyon, where he demolished the competition. In the finals, he met his teammate No. 3 in the nation, Jacob Rivera, but no match was contested.

Vasquez has been on a tear by winning his second tournament title of the season with all bonus points. Can he be stopped?

Just like Vasquez, Haas is doing the same at 182-pounds. He recently won his fourth consecutive Cossarek title and was awarded the upper weights MVP honors.

Valencia won another Cossarek tournament by pinning all the foes he faced. What made this title sweeter was the fact that he pinned league rival Neil Carter (Servite) in 4:49.

Lujan won a La Costa Canyon title wrestling up a weight class. In the finals, he was supposed to wrestle his teammate Kimo Leia, but Leia forfeited to Lujan.

Guillermo Escobedo (Los Altos) enters the P4P rankings after winning the Bakersfield Rumble for the Rig tournament by defeating No. 12 Jadon Martin (Buchanan) in the finals 5-3. Escobedo was expected to wrestle at 220.

Contino won the Bakersfield Rumble for the Rib by pinning his Bakersfield opponent in 18 seconds.

Martin of Buchanan is making great strides this season. After having placed seventh at Super 32 at 160, he bumped up two weight classes and pinned No. 2 Jarad Priest (Bakersfield High) in the second round.
