I do want to explain the process of my national rankings. NCAA DII is comprised of six regions. Of those six regions, the top three from each weight class will qualify for the national tournament. My rankings consist of only the top three from each region. At the semester’s end, I will provide a full regional rundown which will include wrestlers outside the top three in their region with notable wins over nationally ranked wrestlers. 

125 saw the debut of Nick Daggett (UNC-Pembroke) who, at the beginning of the season, was expected to redshirt his junior season. Instead, he matched up head-to-head with #3-ranked Cole Laya (West Liberty). Dagget won 4-2 SV-1.
