2019-20 NCAA DIII Rankings

141 Jordin James - Mount Union University

The first of two Purple Raiders that take the top spot to start the season. The 133 NCAA champion in 2019 will look to win his second NCAA title at arguably the deepest weight class in DIII. James' only loss last year came by disqualification in the first tournament of the year; he rattled off 39 wins in a row and left no doubt in Roanoke that he was the top guy.

James has a serious set of contenders behind him that will make 141 a fun weight class to watch this year. 2018 NCAA champion and two-time All American Ben Brisman and two-time All American Clint Lembeck sit in the #2 and 3 spots, respectively. Mario Vasquez and Brendan Ladd are the last two returning All-Americans from a season ago that will be looking to challenge for the top spot in 2020. 2018 NCAA champ Brock Rathbun is joining the party and making the move up to 141; Rathbun has had success at 141 but was at 133 in the postseason during his first two years at Wartburg. Two-time All American Troy Stanich will be back in the mix as he chases that elusive NCAA title in his final year of competition. Hazen Rice fell in the Round of 12 after entering NCAAs as the #3 seed in 2019 but has some serious firepower which was on full display in the Upper Midwest Regional final when he pinned 2019 NCAA champ David Flynn. Doster placed as a true freshman in 2017 but has yet to reach the podium since; he will look to finish his career like he started and secure his second All-American finish in 2020.
