High School Team Rankings 2018-2019
Buchanan Wins Doc B
What a busy time.
The last two weeks offered some of the best wrestling high school has to offer. Since our last update (Dec. 24th), St. Edward won Powerade where OPRF was 2nd.
Last weekend, perhaps the best ever version of Doc B was held. Nine of the Top 16 teams in the country were there and Buchanan took the crown, beating Montini by 9.5 and Bergen by 30.5.
A couple days before, Seminary beat Gilroy (38-25) and Buchanan (35-16), Montini edged Buchanan (28-27).
Buchanan makes the big move - from #10 to #3.
Bergen is expecting three guys in there line up that they haven't had due to weights/transfers/injuries. They will be one of five ranked teams at BTS Chicago Duals this weekend with Montini, Lake Highland, Poway, and OPRF.
Speaking of OPRF - they are one of four teams debuting in the Top 25 for the first time this year. They finished 2nd at Powerade behind Ed's and in front of Parkersburg, who was 24th at the time. They then smashed their way through The Clash. Although there were no ranked teams there, OPRF's closest dual was a 32 pt. margin over Waverly Shell Rock (IA).
Another Illinois' squad debuts with Mt. Carmel checking in @ #21. They had a narrow dual loss to Detroit CC, and then won The Cheesehead last weekend where previously ranked Southeast Polk and Simley were.
Liberty (Bethlehem, Pa) also gets in. What a week they had. They won Bethlehem Holiday tournament over Northampton, who was 8th at the Beast. Then beat both Northampton and Bethlehem Catholic (Ironman 3rd) in duals.
Finally, Delbarton gets in.
Blair won Geary with two other ranked teams (Tuttle/Broken Arrow). They headline this week's Who's #1 Duals which will feature five ranked teams in total with Wyoming Seminary, La Salle, St. Edward, and Clovis North.
