NCAA Rankings 2018-19

184 Myles Martin

This weight. Though never a disappointment for the fans, 184-pounds this season has been an absolute nightmare for the rankers. Not that we would complain, just pointing out how difficult it's been trying to make sense out of results that sow more confusion every week.

#1 is easy to figure out. Myles Martin has never looked better, with his victory over Taylor Venz l being yet another quality win for his resume.

After that it gets complicated.

Although Reenan has not wrestled a full slate of matches, his one loss not to Myles Martin was to Nino Bonaccorsi, and he has quality wins over Venz and Priesch, so we moved Reenan back into the #2 slot. We put Venz at #3, because despite having losses to Cash Wilcke and Chip Ness, he has the most quality wins of the next tier, with victories over Emery Parker, Nino Bonaccorsi, Max Dean, and two against Drew Foster.

Foster is next, with wins over Nino, Louie Deprez, and two over Zack Zavatsky. Zavatsky, who just this week lost to Max Dean, is next, thanks to his wins over Preisch, Dean and Bonaccorsi. Dean has now split with Zavatsky, so his recent victory moves him up to #6, but his only other win of the caliber of Zavatsky was one over Drew Foster. Dean also has losses to DePrez and Dyan Wisman.

We put Bonaccorsi ahead of Shakur Rasheed and Emery Parker, despite the latter two having a more established pedigree, due Parker and Rasheed lacking for wins as good as Bonaccorsi's over Reenan.

Ryan Preisch and Lou DePrez both have wins over Jacobe Smith. Preisch also has a win over Corey Hazel, whereas Hazel beat DePrez earlier this year, so that sets the order for those three.

Nothing from two through twelve is set in stone, and plenty of competitive challengers lurk outside the top 12 as well, like Chip Ness and Cash Wilcke, who both have wins over Venz this season.

Elsewhere, Dylan Wisman re-enters the ranking, despite taking a loss to Jacobe Smith, as his resume before he took time off from competing is strong enough to warrant the #17 spot.

Finally, Michigan State's Cam Caffey falls out of the ranking after a loss to Purdue's Max Lion.
