NCAA Prospect Rankings

David Carr Asserts His Dominance At 165

David Carr is a no brainer for the top of the 165 pound prospect rankings. There is a case to be made that he is the No. 2 overall prospect at any weight behind Gable Steveson, and is also fifth in the high school pound-for-pound. He is one of the few recruits who can go out and get a score just about any time he needs it.

Connor Brady and Joe Lee was a close call at 2 and 3. Lee will likely be at 57 for at least a year replacing Nolf before he can move up after Vincenzo Joseph graduates. As a junior, Brady probably has a slightly higher upside right now, though we will get to see Lee in an open or two, as well as a senior level event.

It's possible we overshot on Davenport and Voinovich a little, not in terms of their skill, but rather how big they might get. Either way, both will be highly coveted blue chippers when they are ready to make their college decisions.

Ryan Thomas has been a steady riser, particularly after his Grappler Fall Classic wins over Mason Reiniche and Erich Byelick. Peyton Robb meanwhile took a couple close losses but still projects very well for college.

A couple National Prep champs sandwich a Pennsylvania AA state champ, with Phil Conigliaro 8th, Justin McCoy 9th, and Andrew Merola 10th. Conigliaro could wind up being the favorite to win 160 this weekend at Super 32. McCoy is a big body and after WNO we all agreed he'd be able to put on some bulk in college. Merola gritted out a tough win over Robb, and like most Blair kids can win matches with his top and bottom wrestling.

Jarrett Jacques and Nelson Brands are the only guys from 11 through 20 who have committed, leaving a number of solid prospects for coaches to recruit in the 2019 and 2020 classes.
