NCAA Rankings 2017-18

157: Herffernan-Sense

This weight class remains undecipherable, thanks in no small amount to Colin Heffernan's recent upset of sixth-ranked Alec Pantaleo. However, Pantaleo still has five top 10 wins (#7 Micah Jordan twice, #8 Clay Ream, and #10 Tyler Berger twice) and thus does not drop in the rankings despite the loss.

Elsewhere in this incomprehensible miasma of the 157 top 20, Kennedy Monday dropped two matches last week to fall below a surging Heffernan and Mitch Finesilver, who gave Monday one of those L’s.

John Van Brill continues to be Mike D’Angelo’s kryptonite, beating him for the second time this season and third time overall. Van Brill also beat Andrew Crone, who lost twice last week, to JVB and unranked Griffin Parriott of Purdue. Crone's victory over Berger last week, among others this season, keeps him from dropping too far.

Van Brill’s wins are enough to snag a #20 spot, but that ranking and many others at 157 are debatable. There are innumerable circular daisy chains of wins and losses, and so most wrestlers' body of work this season were enough of a bulwark against further movement. There are at least 20 wrestlers on the bubble with a justifiable claim to a top 20 ranking.
