Returning world champion #1 J’den Cox (USA) made his fourth straight World/Olympic team with two strong wins over three-time NCAA champ #12 Bo Nickal (USA) at Final X. Cox will look to win his fourth straight World/Olympic medal and his second straight world gold medal in Nursultan. 

Returning world bronze medalist #2 Alireza Karimimachiani (IRI) beat 2018 Russian Nationals champion #9 Batyrbek Tsakulov (RUS) in the finals of the Sassari tournament. Karimi also beat #11 Arashk Mohebbi as did Tsakulov. 

#18 Akhmed Bataev (BUL), a Russian from Chechnya transferred to Bulgaria along with Ramazan Ramazanov (BUL).
