In a huge shake-up, Cody Chittum, one of the best pound-for-pound high school wrestlers in the country, has flipped his commitment from Minnesota to Iowa. In June of 2021, Chittum became one of the first commits in the class of 2023 to announce his college commitment. Since then, Chittum continued to carefully weigh all of his options and came to the conclusion that this would be what is best for him.

One of my favorite age-level tournaments of the year has arrived - the Junior World Team Trials. The nation’s best high school upperclassmen and college underclassmen putting it on the line for a chance to represent their country overseas.

U20 Nationals (formerly known as UWW Junior Nationals) is one of my favorite age-level tournaments every year. The top high school upperclassmen get to test themselves against the best first or second year college guys who are often hungry to compete coming out of redshirt. It's the first step in making the Junior World Team as the winner of this event will earn an automatic berth to the best-of-three wrestle-off series against the World Team Trials challenge tournament champion in June.

the U20 division at the US Open attracts some of the most ambitious high schoolers and young college wrestlers, and the U17 World Team Trials are one of the pinnacles in the sport. The Iowa Hawkeye's holiday tournament saga final turn will land them in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the 2022 Southern Scuffle. With the cancelation of the Midlands Championships and then the cancelation of the Hawkeye Open, the Hawks needed somewhere to get their nonstarters matches and the Scuffle accepted them in.
