Competing for India, Ravi Kumar first hit the scene with a silver medal at the cadet Asian championships in 2013. He would follow that up at the junior level in 2015 with a gold at the Asian championships and a silver at the world championships. Kumar was born in the Sonipat district of Haryana in 1997 and began wrestling at the age of 10 being trained by Satpal Singh.
