USA Wrestling has announced that there will be 11 True Third National Team Wrestle-offs held to determine the No. 3 athlete on USA Wrestling’s National Team

The 2022 World Team Trials are set to go down in Coralville, Iowa May 21-22. This tournament will set the top two wrestlers at every weight who will wrestle-off for the world team spot in June at Final X. Seeds for the trials likely won't be released until a few days prior to the tournament, but because of its importance, we decided to predict what the top 7-8 seeds at each weight will look like. The US Open finally returns, and with it, a chance for the top senior level contenders to qualify for the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in May, which determines who participates in Final X. Challenge Tournament seeds will also largely be determined by the results from the Open.

Nearly two-thirds of the starters in the ACC will be headed to Detroit. In other words, this conference has an extremely high concentration of talent, and every match will matter.

Ukraine won its first World team title in Belgrade and did so in spectacular fashion. Of its nine athletes, seven picked up medals, five reached the finals and three earned gold. The team was led by Olympic Team member Alina Akobiia, who unfortunately had to miss the Games after damaging ligaments in her elbow. She proved here that she’s a tier above everyone on the U23 level, pinning each of her opponents prior to the finals (where she controlled Russia’s Kristina Mikhneva). Other highlights included Solomiia Vynnyk defeating talented Olympian Anastasia Nichita of Moldova in a contentious 4-4 criteria bout and Anastasiia Lavrenchuk and Anastasiya Alpyeyeva commandingly taking titles at 65 kg and 72 kg respectively. This bodes well for Ukraine’s Senior-level future. None of the five women that represented Ukraine at the Olympics — where it picked up two bronze medals and a fifth-place finisher — were in attendance in Serbia, showing the serious depth and wide range of stars that are entering their Senior-level lineups. Ukraine will, without a doubt, be entering the upper echelon of international women’s wrestling over the next quad as its young stars compete for World Team spots with its talented veterans.

We have two wrestlers in contention for a medal. Anthony Cassioppi (125 kg) is in the gold medal match at 125 kg while Chris Cannon (61 kg) is fighting his way through the repechage.

Day six in Belgrade. The second half of the men's freestyle team starts their tournament in the morning (Chris Cannon, Peyton Robb, Myles Wilson, Nino Bonaccorsi, and Anthony Cassioppi) while Jake Marsh wrestles in repechage. Jay Aiello will be wrestling for bronze in the afternoon.

Wrestling has finished in women’s freestyle at the U23 world championships in Belgrade, Serbia. The team race was tight throughout between Team USA, Russia, Ukraine, and India. Take a look below to see the final standings and how every representative for Team USA performed.

Day five in Belgrade. Men's freestyle starts with Patrick Glory, Dom Demas, Brock Mauller, Jake Marsh, and Jay Aiello wrestling for Team USA. UNI's colin Realbuto will also be representing Team Italy. Later in the day Kayla Marano will wrestle for a bronze medal.

The Serbia-bound USA U23 women’s freestyle World Team is loaded with college stars on a roster that includes national champions, finalists and All-Americans from recent years.
