A native of St. Michael, Minnesota, McKee was a three time Minnesota state champion at St. Michael - Albertville high school as well as a two - time All - American, and junior Fargo national champion in 2017. McKee qualified for the 2020 NCAA championships after earning an at - large bid but did not compete after the tournament was canceled due to Covid-19. McKee began his sophomore season ranked 24th in the nation and climbed as high as seventh during the year.
