Every four years, the Olympic Team Trials attracts one of the greatest collections of active American wrestlers under one roof. Just how great will the 2024 Trials in State College be? Keep reading and we will tell you!

Below is a comprehensive list of the wrestlers who competed at the 2023 World Championships, results from the tournament, and the colleges they attended. Some wrestlers are listed twice since they attended multiple schools.

The 2023 Senior World Championships are set to go down in Belgrade, Serbia, September 16-24. The men’s freestyle portion of the tournament will take place from September 16-19. The 2023 Senior World Championships will occur in Belgrad, Serbia, September 16-24. Team USA will send 10 wrestlers per style to Belgrade to compete against the best wrestlers in the world. Team USA is set to compete in the 4th Ranking Series tournament of the year on July 13-16 in Budapest, Hungary. For most of Team USA, this will be the final preparation event before the senior world championship in September. There are a number of storylines that will unfold in Hungary but we highlighted the top 5 in the below article for Team USA’s men’s freestyle squad.

Chance Marsteller defeated Jordan Burroughs during a controversial three-match series at Final X for the 79-kilogram World team spot. Burroughs won the first match 3-3 and Marsteller won the subsequent two matches, 5-4 and 8-3.

I would like to start off this article by saying that I hope Team USA goes 10 for 10 at Worlds and dominates the entire way and that USA Wrestling has become so good in the past handful of years that just making the team automatically makes you a medal threat at the World Championships. Look at how many medalists are sitting home this year. That being said, I’m trying to provide information to help fans set realistic expectations. At weights where I did not predict a gold medal, I’m not saying that wrestler isn’t capable, just looking at data including past results and international fields.

Before Final X, many wrestling fans expected the US to send a veteran squad to Serbia for the World Championships in hopes of repeating as World Champs and adding to sky-high individual medal counts. While a team title and individual medals are of course on the table, the World Team that emerged on Saturday night has a mix of veterans and unexpected newcomers. All-told, six out of ten men's freestylers will join four veterans to compete in their first World Championships this September. One of the six newcomers, Gable Steveson, is an Olympic gold medalist, so while this will be his first World Championships, he's been on this kind of stage before.

Chance Marsteller defeated Alex Dieringer in the 79kg classification at the 2023 U.S. Open in Las Vegas in April.

Final X 2023 presented by Tezos is set to go down on June 10 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. This event will feature the best wrestlers in the United States as they seek to make Team USA’s 2023 World Team. One of the biggest matches of the night will be the rematch from Final X 2022 between Jordan Burroughs and Chance Marsteller.

As a qualifying tournament for Final X, this year's edition of the US Open has brought out a deeper level of talent than we've seen in Vegas in recent memory. Chief among the most loaded brackets will be 79 kilos in the men's freestyle divisions.

The second Ranking Series event of the year, the 2023 Ibrahim Moustafa, is underway in Alexandria Egypt. Some of Team USA’s best from the men’s and women’s freestyle squads are competing against the best in the world, on February 24-February 26.
