As one of the four men's freestyle weight classes with no returning medalist waiting in Final X, the 125kg division will be contested at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. And, unsurprisingly, in the year before the Olympics, a cavalcade of quality heavies will be rumbling onto the mats in Colorado Springs to try and earn the Team USA starting gig.

Below is a list of every men's freestyle wrestler that is qualified for the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament on May 20 - 21 and how they qualified. The 2022 World Team Trials are set to go down in Coralville, Iowa May 21-22. This tournament will set the top two wrestlers at every weight who will wrestle-off for the world team spot in June at Final X. Seeds for the trials likely won't be released until a few days prior to the tournament, but because of its importance, we decided to predict what the top 7-8 seeds at each weight will look like. The US Open finally returns, and with it, a chance for the top senior level contenders to qualify for the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in May, which determines who participates in Final X. Challenge Tournament seeds will also largely be determined by the results from the Open.

Olympic Trials week is finally here! Before official seeds come out later in the week, I wanted to take my best guess at how the seeding committee will see things. 

On February 10 and 11, many of the nation's top freestylers and a few high level Canadian wrestlers will meet in a six-team dual tournament. Day 1 will feature two pools which will set the stage for a bracketed tournament that will take place on day 2. Here's a rundown of what to expect from this event.

The pools are set for the RTC Cup Presented by Titan Mercury where we'll see two days of incredible action. Here's a breakdown of the weight classes and the matches we expect to see during pool competition and how they could set up Saturday's bracket.

57 kg and 65 kg are phenomenal, but I think most people have 125 kg circled as the weight to watch in Cincinnati. Two-time World medalist and NCAA champion Nick Gwiazdowski, three-time age level World champion Gable Steveson, and 2019 Junior World champion Mason Parris headline a phenomenal weight; and all in the same pool.

The big men. With just 24 entries so far and registration closing on Thursday evening, this won’t be the deepest weight. However, veteran Dom Bradley, a lot full of solid college kids, and some guys moving up from 197 will provide some interesting matchups. Here’s what you can expect to see at 125 in Coralville.
