The last step before the 2021 Olympic Trials: the 2021 Last Chance US Olympic Trials Qualifier! The top two wrestlers at each weight will qualify for the Olympic Trials on April 2-3. Before you dismiss any of these guys take a look at the registration list and remember that in 2017 Thomas Gilman went from last chance qualifier to World silver. Nothing is impossible!

Eight elite 195-pound wrestlers have made their way to Austin for a shot at $20,000 and a piece of total purse worth over $40,000. We'll also see two bouts between up-and-coming stars from the women's division. And I'm here to bring you all the action, as it happens, live in the form of this blog.

There's a mystique around Keith Gavin heading into the 195 lb 8-man challenge. He hasn't wrestled a match since 2016, and he has never wrestled a match against anyone in this field. So why is the Pitt Head Coach dusting off the singlet for the first time in a long time, and how well does he expect to do?

Nothing leverages the enjoyment of a spectator event like a wager. Having skin in the game makes everything that much more exhilarating. As such, we've drafted future odds to win the 195-pound 8-Man Challenge. 

While starting out his senior level career at 74 kg, spending the bulk at 84 kg, and then finishing at the changed Olympic weight class of 86 kg, Keith Gavin ran into his fair share of buzz saws. And as a result of Keith Gavin being very good at wrestling, he beat a lot of these buzz saws. 

Every entrant competing for that $20,000 bag has a mighty impressive resume. We tallied the accolades to see just how daunting their D1 NCAA accomplishments are. 

There is $20k on the line on Halloween night for Flo’s first eight-man tournament. That may not be Dake/Chamizo money, but with the exceptions of a few dormant tournaments in Azerbaijan this is one of the most lucrative purses for a tournament that I can think of. Eight men will come to Austin on Halloween and one will walk away $20,000 richer. So what will they do with the money? I was curious, so I asked them.
