Let’s get right to it, Mark Hall (MN) was on a mission.

He wrestled the perfect match against Anthony Valencia (CA). Hall controlled every phase of the bout with great takedowns, mat returns and a tilt in third period to get the 10-2 major and prove that he is both the top wrestler at 170 pounds and in the pound-for-pound rankings.

There wasn’t much that Anthony Valencia could do against Hall who executed his game plan perfectly.

Top-ranked Nick Suriano (NJ) and No. 2 Daton Fix (OK) had fans on the edge of their seats watching every scramble at 120 as they wrestled the longest match in history. Suriano ended up breaking the 1-1 tie with a takedown at the 32:12 mark of overtime.

The Flo Premium League debut match between Robert Hamlin and Chris Perry was the great way to end the 2nd annual Who’s No. 1 dual meet event. It was all about Perry getting revenge in Hamlin’s house but the Vermonster wasn’t having any of that.

Hamlin defended his home turf with a 4-1 win over Perry. An early push out was the lone setback for Hamlin, who followed up with a takedown in the last two periods to get the first FPL victory.

Matt Kolodzik (NJ), who was previously the second-ranked wrestler in the country at 138, was the first to knock off a No. 1 guy with his 4-0 victory over Ke-Shawn Hayes (MO). Kolodzik controlled the bout in workman-like fashion. He rode out Hayes the entire third period to take over the top spot in the country after scoring a takedown, escape in the second and stalling point at the end.

In a grueling shirtless battle, No. 2 David McFadden (NJ) avenged a loss from a year ago to become the top dog at 152 with a 3-1 overtime win over No. 1 Isaiah White (IL). Coming in at just under 11 minutes of OT, McFadden won a scramble in the middle of the mat to get the takedown.

At 126 a pair of future OK. State Cowboys went head-to-head with No. 3-ranked Kaid Brock (OK) to get the 3-2 victory over No. 1 Nick Piccininni (NY). A very slick slide-by gave Brock the only takedown of the bout in the second period and an escape with just under a minute to wrestle gave him the edge and a new spot in the rankings.

Vincenzo Joseph (PA) held on to his top ranking and put an end to No. 2 Fredy Stroker’s WNO win streak with a 3-2 win at 145. Zahid Valencia (CA) traded in his No. 2 ranking for Myles Martin’s (NJ) top spot at 182 with 3-1 OT win.

Fourth ranked Larry Early remained unblemished against No. 3 Jo-Jo Smith and will see a slight boost in his ranking after getting a 7-5 OT win. The highly decorated freshmen Cade Olivas (CA) and Gavin Teasdale (PA) got the show started with close 3-1 bout which was decided by a pair of back points in the second period by Olivas.

Bobby Steveson kept his top-ranking with a 5-1 win over No. 5 Hunter Ritter at 195. AC Headlee (PA) also remains the No. 1 guy at 132 with his 5-3 win over No. 3 Mitchell McKee (MN).

Who’s No. 1 had everything that we expected and then some. We saw five of the No. 1 wrestlers go down, a record-setting 35-minute war at 120 and a great Flo Premium League debut battle in the main event between Perry and Hamlin.
