Sep 29, 2014
Bobby Steveson and Sammy Colbray know a thing or two about knocking off #1's. And they know a thing or two about each other. Steveson knocked off last year's Who's #1 winner, Johnny Sebastian, at The Clash last year. Colbray beat then-#1 Lance Benick in a showdown at FILA Cadets. In Fargo Junior Freestyle this year, Steveson had to go through both Colbray and Benick in consecutive nip-and-tuck affairs to claim his first title. He beat Colbray 5-5 and Benick 3-1. That was only after Colbray drew first first blood in Greco, beating Steveson 7-1 en route to his 3rd straight Fargo title in that style. Both wrestlers hail from powerhouse programs that are regulars in the national team rankings. Steveson is a two-time state champ from Apple Valley (MN) while Colbray has two titles wrestling for Hermiston (OR). The intrigue will come in the form of Steveson's gritty and stingy style versus the crazy athleticism and penchant for big throws that Colbray is known for. It's a must see #1 vs. #2 bout on October 18th! Greco isn't exactly Jo Jo Smith's forte, but that didn't mean that Larry Early was going to cut him any slack.
